What is your primary product or service?
DVDs on vintage sports, 1930's-1983.
All are from vintage films, completely restored for picture sharpness and color quality, and include game and team highlight films, original partial game and full-game TV broadcasts, player interviews and sports TV shows. We concentrate primarily on baseball, NFL and college football, NBA basketball, professional golf and auto racing (the Indianapolis 500 and vintage NASCAR).
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have been collecting original 16mm films on sports for more than 35 years and by now have amassed the largest personal collection of 16mm sports films in the United States. I formerly worked in Major League Baseball, then decided to make my hobby into a full-time business in 1988.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
There are no other businesses in the country similar to Rare Sportsfilms, Inc.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One location (Naperville, Illinois) and have no plans to expand, other than constantly expanding our offerings. We announce approximately 15 new titles per year.
